Rugby Quay
The Queensland Rugby Club is investing $13 million into one of Brisbane's landmark riverside locations and turning it into one of the city's most spectacular banquet venues. Based at the former site of the famed Michael's Restaurant, the new venue will be known as Rugby Quay and will incorporate a signature restaurant, riverfront event centre and private club.
The 500m2 event centre, to be called The Strand at Rugby Quay, will seat up to 320 guests and offer 5 star standard boutique-style dining and service in striking contemporary surrounds. The event centre will have the capability of being divided into two smaller venues, with a double-width operable wall separating each room to ensure sound-proofing.
Boasting panoramic views of Brisbane's bustling river, Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point cliffs, the centre will be located in close proximity to many of Brisbane's leading international hotels and directly adjacent to the main CityCat terminal - offering convenient access for visiting conference groups.
An extensive building program and six month fit-out is currently underway and it is anticipated the Rugby Quay complex will be open in late 2009.
